Smores Mitten

Here's another freebie from The Cricket Collection - Smores Mitten 2007. Stitching this one made me think of the gooey marshmallow, creamy melted chocolate & the toasted graham cracker being cooked on a campfire. Yum, I could almost go out & cook one now.

Jury Duty Part Deux

I served as a juror again this week. Of course, another d.u.i. case. Actually after sitting thru this one I believe the guy did drink only 1 beer & wasn't intoxicated. The police officer had an attitude even on the stand. The guy testified that the police officer had an attitude & that's why he refused the blood alcohol test. Personally, I think I would have refused too. The defendant said he completed 4 tests & was under the impression that he passed them all. My favorite quote this time was - Defendant "I could have stood on my head and stacked b.b.s and I knew I was still going to jail."

Cup of Cocoa Mitten

This was a freebie from The Cricket Collection Inc. I sewed this while baking a hot fudge cake so it was almost like I could smell the cup of cocoa as it was being stitched. Good food, good times :-)

Believe Santa

I got this 73183 Dimensions kit for my birthday last month & I loved how it turned out. It can be used as an ornament or it can stand alone. It was designed by Brian Jackins. The pic on the right side is the unfinished version.

Movie Marathon

Finally got the time this week to watch several movies that I've set aside for just the occasion. The Guardian is the first that comes to mind. Two thumbs up! Ashton Kutcher & Kevin Costner were great in this one. Our Coast Guards do awesome work. Kudos to them! I also watched a couple of thrillers - Vacancy & The Hitcher remake. Both pretty much kept you on the edge of your seat. Also watched a movie called The Abandoned - two thumbs down. I was totally lost thru most of it & the gore was too gory. Think it's time to hunt for some comedies.

Jury Duty

Yeah, I not only voted yesterday but I did my civic duty & went in for jury duty. Serving as a juror in Hickville, USA is funnier than the funniest sitcom on tv. 12 jurors were picked to serve on a jury of a guy that was accused of a D.U.I. So the defense lawyer asked the 12 jurors is there anyone of you that has been affected by a drunken driver. One poor guy raised his hand. The lawyer proceeds to ask him "so you have a family member that has been affected?" Juror says "Ummm, yeah, my ex-wife was hit head on by a drunk driver around 18 years ago. Hurt her real bad, pretty near killed her." Lawyer says "I guess that really tore you up, huh?" Juror says "well, it hurt me a little." Now everyone else is sitting there like a deer caught in headlights but I found his answer so hilarious - hurt me a little?? a little??? LOL I'm still laughing about it. Must have been bad marriage breakup :-) They paid me $12.50 to do my civic duty, shoot I would have paid them $12.50 to watch that trial again.

Santa Ornament

Here is #2 ornament for 2007. This is a Dimensions kit 8789 designed by Susan Winget. I really like the designs but just hate finishing these ornaments. Anyone have any good tips that would make finishing these any easier?

Snow Greetings

This is the first finished ornament for Christmas 2007. It's a 72866 Daydreams Dimensions kit. I changed some thread colors to make it a bit more festive.

3rd Love Quilts Finish

Finally completed the 3rd quilt square for the Love Quilt's Organization. This one is going to a girl named Ashley. Can I just say how nice I think the plp are that work in this organization - they are wonderful to devote so much time in creating quilts to put a smile on a kid's face :-)
